Gentle Skin Care and Natural Facial Products

by Aileen Fitzharris

Maintaining proper skin care is an essential part of healthy skin, so if proper care isn't taken and our skin becomes damaged or injured, we become more vulnerable to infection and disease. However, since traditional skin care products can be harsh, especially for sensitive and dry skin, we sometimes end up creating a skin care routine that endangers our skin instead of caring for it.

Traditional cleanser and toners can strip natural oils away leaving your skin vulnerable to foreign matter. Traditional moisturizers may contain alcohol and mineral oil. Both ingredients can dry out your skin; while the latter can also clog pores and lead to acne breakouts.

Luckily, there is a gentler option for treating problems such skin wrinkles and hyperpigmentation, and that option suggests using natural ingredients, most of which can be found in your own home. In fact, you can actually create natural facial products with products that are sitting in your refrigerator or even your backyard. If you think this is something you'd like to try out, here are a few fun skin care recipes you might like.

Natural Cleansers

There are a dozen different recipes for making natural cleansers at home. None of these contain processed ingredients, which means that as long as you're not allergic to any of the ingredients, you shouldn't suffer from any adverse effects.

Yogurt and oatmeal can be used as a cleanser. First, make a paste with these two ingredients and apply it to your face with a massaging motion. Rinse with warm water and pat dry.

If you need a mild cleanser you can puree cooked vegetables. You can use a few drops of the cooking water to make the paste. Once it's ready you can apply to your skin, rinse off, and pat dry.

Vegetable oil is another great natural cleanser. This solution is ideal for dry or mature skin. It works in much the same way as cold cream.

If you would like to use olive oil, try mixing 1 part olive oil with 1 part honey and two parts distilled water. Apply the mixture to your face and let it set for a few minutes. Wipe it off with a damp, warm cloth.

Natural Exfoliators

Exfoliation can be rough on sensitive and dry skin. So you might want to try using natural ingredients to help treat your skin without provoking any damage.

One of the most common natural exfoliators is milk. Dairy products help provide hydration as they remove debris and dead skin cells.

Mashed bananas, grapefruit/oatmeal mix and a baking soda/water mix are also good ways to exfoliate the skin using natural products. In each case, form a paste and apply to your skin. Let the mixture set for a while and wipe off with a moist washcloth.

Natural Anti Aging Cream

Believe it or not, your cupboard can also be a good place to find facial products for wrinkles. Mix 1/2 tablespoon of ground nutmeg with 1 tablespoon of honey to form a paste. Apply the mixture to your skin, let set for 20 minutes, and remove with warm water and a washcloth.

Natural skin care is the safest way of treating your skin. However, creating a homemade version of a skin care cream may be fun and ineffective. The problem originates because it is difficult for a homemade product to reach the level of effectiveness that can be achieved using higher concentrations of certain natural ingredients. In other words, 1 drop of natural oil isn't as effective as 1000 drops. This is why you can't ignore the importance of natural skin care creams such as BIOBALM. This amazing natural wrinkle cream contains a perfect balance of Helix Aspersa Muller extract and strawberry seed oil. This precise blend of natural ingredients creates a wonderful product that can effectively moisturize your skin and help combat aging.
